Drones help in Spanish reforestation

It is a fact that fires are the main enemy of woods. In Spain, since 2001 to 2015, there have been 82.543 fires that have calcined one or more hectares. This statistic is disturbing for all people.

Due to it, CO2 Revolution is a company founded by Juan Carlos Sesma in order to fight against fire consequences and deforestation. It has begun in summer of 2018 because of many fires that attempted to the forest security of the Natural Park of the High Tajo, Guadalajara.

Their project consists of using special seeds that have been removed their latency phase so that they can root as soon as possible, reaching an 80% of success. These seeds are wrapped by a capsule that contains the needed nutrients for growing in well conditions. By selecting different kinds of plants, the team of CO2 Revolution achieve to create a diverse and complete vegetal ecosystem wherever they fall. When the Iseeds are ready, they are tracked in drones and spreaded above zones that otherwise would be inaccessible for human being.

With this method, 100.000 trees can be planted in a day thanks to information from the Big Data, smart seeds and drones. In so doing, each drone can throw 2.500 seeds with one battery charge, which is a considerable number.
